Alberto Mario Pumarejo Partner

Alberto Mario Pumarejo was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. Until June of 2010, he was Chairman of the Board of El Heraldo S.A. This closely-held private holding corporation, founded in 1933 and based in Barranquilla, is dedicated to the production and circulation of the newspapers El Heraldo and Al Día, both among the highest circulation newspapers in Colombia, now expanding successfully into the electronic media business. Mr. Pumarejo is a partner in the company and has served on the Board of Directors since October 1994. He became Chairman of the Board in April 2008. Alberto was also a member of the Board of Directors of Canal 3 Television de Colombia S.A., a company that bid for Colombia’s third private television channel, representing El Heraldo’s interests in association with Grupo Planeta, the first editorial company of Spain and seventh in the world.

Mr. Pumarejo is partner and member of the Board of Directors of Palmas Oleaginosas del Ariguaní S.A., a company founded in 1961, dedicated to the cultivation of African oil palm. Palmariguaní is one of the pioneers in the oil palm industry in Colombia and co-founder of Fedepalma. Between June 1995 and November 1998, Alberto served as Assistant General Manager of the company. In 2010, he was a co-founder and is currently a member of the board of directors of Extractora Palmariguaní S.A., spin-off of the former, dedicated to the extraction of the raw palm oil and its domestic commercialization. Extractora Palmariguaní is also partner in the Colombian oil company BioCosta, an international commercialization company, and result of a partnership between 6 mayor Colombian oil palm producers.

Between 2013 and early 2015, while residing in Barranquilla, Colombia, Mr. Pumarejo was Financial Director of Ceipa Business School’s Barranquilla node.

Mr. Pumarejo holds an MBA in Global Business from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), a Bachelor of Science-Industrial Engineering Degree from the University of Texas – Arlington and post-graduate studies in Management of Commercial Enterprises from Universidad del Norte, in Barranquilla, Colombia. While based in Atlanta, Mr. Pumarejo has participated, led or co-led several business development projects as a team member of MAPA Group, in the areas of Software Development, Healthcare Logistics and Bike Share Mobility, among others. Currently, he is the Southeast Director of Global Business Development for MAPA Group.

He and his wife Julie are the proud parents of two young girls and reside in Atlanta, GA, USA.
